Saint Olave’s Skulls

Did you know Charles Dickens used to walk by this church just to gaze at the skulls on the archway into the graveyard? He did! According to the internet, at least. The church has many other claims to fame.

We mapped out our walk via tips from atlasobscura.com (great website if you’ve never seen it) and found some real gems!

I just liked this sculpture on this building.

Bank of England building.

I love the random churches sandwiched in between newer buildings. Doorway to Diagon Alley in Leadenhall Market. Another filming scene from Harry Potter in Southwark at the Borough Market. This church was destroyed in WWII and instead of being rebuilt, it was turned into a garden. When in London, one has to see the Tower of London. We didn’t go in, but just walked around it. The Millenium Bridge! It’s a nice walk over the Thames with great views. We already went to Southwark Cathedral but didn’t take pictures of church kitty so we had to go back and found kitty snuggled on a chair in one of the prayer chapels.
