  • Watermelons

Thank you to whoever grows delicious mini watermelons and ships them to Albuquerque.

  • I ❤️ Vintage Tupperware

I have a soft spot in my heart for old Tupperware. The colors were amazing, Harvest Gold anyone? Avocado green? And the zigzag tops surely had some purpose back in the day, but they were super annoying to wash. Hand wash, of course, because we didn’t have a dish washer when I was growing up. …

  • Coffee

Seen outside the RV park I’m at: I only need coffee on days beginning with y.  Cliche at this point, but yes yes and yes.  And also yes.

  • Twin Toads in a Hole

My 9 and 12 year olds are getting really good at making their eggs just the way they want them.

  • Recently I instagrammed a picture of lasagna that I made for my family. A few people asked for the recipe so here it is. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Karen (Kuster) Arnold (@iamkarenalma)

  • Rolling in the Sushi Rolls

Ever heard of Spam sushi? If not, you are missing out. Seriously. It’s yum. You get just a tiny hint of salt when you eat the roll that hits the spot. Not sure what Spam is? I’ve talked about it before. It’s basically canned meat, which sounds gross, I know. But fried or grilled, it’s…

  • Nectarine Crop

A few years back we planted three trees, nectarine, pear, and apple. The pear and the apple bit the dust but the nectarine is going strong. My boys picked the ones that seemed ripe and brought in a bounty. They are the cutest tiny little things:

  • My face hurt from laughing so hard and my heart was full. Fifteen women, gathered for their monthly doula hangout, sitting around a table piled high with food: brownies, whipped topping, cookies, angle food cake, strawberries, chips, guacamole. Oh, the guacamole. It was an evening out of busy lives to connect around the shared work of caring for…

  • Eleven Pipers Piping

In celebration of the 11th day of Christmas we got a jump on the Epiphany traditions to try some Rosca de Reyes. There’s only supposed to be one Christ child figurine inside the cake, but my two nephews each got a figurine too. Some nice baker was sure thinking ahead.

  • Seven Swans A-Swimming

On this 7th (or 8th) day of Christmas, we are eating Panettone, a delectable treat commonly consumed by our family on Christmas Day and New Years Day. It usually has candied fruit, but this particularly amazing one is full of chocolate bits. It’s amazing when slathered with butter. And coffee, of course 🙂

  • Five Gold Rings

On the 5th (or 6th) day of Christmas I’m dreaming of the delicious Christmas dinner we ate a few days ago. My husband’s family has a tradition of making a slightly sweet turkey and sweet gravy for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The first time I had it I couldn’t believe my tastebuds so I learned how to make…

  • Two Turtle Doves

On the second day of Christmas  we ate leftovers. Specifically our traditional family “fruit salad”, aka marshmallow, whipped topping, and pineapple goodness.
