Working Out, Failing, Working Out Again

Over the last year I’ve been failing at my workout goals. I started going to Jazzercise about 6 years ago and was super regular, going at least 4 or 5 times a week if not 7. And then on top of that, walking and hiking with the family. I’m not sure what happened this last year, but it’s just not been happening.

It’s not like I haven’t been getting exercise. I’ve run a few races, including my very first 10K on a freezing cold insanely windy day. Proof:

I thought maybe it was time to try something new so I put my Jazzercise membership on hold and we got a family membership at the YMCA. This happened right in the middle of the colder part of the year in Albuquerque and I was really glad to have the indoor treadmill. I don’t much like walking in the cold wind.

Yesterday I finally got around to taking advantage of a class at the Y, called Body Pump, and oh my goodness. It was great! And horrible! And I’m totally going again because it killed my muscles and today I can barely sit down because my thighs are screaming. My upper arms are not too pleased either. But too bad. They don’t know what’s good for them, but I do.

  1. Nice! I recently got myself back into yoga and I find myself exclaiming at random times, “Oh! Why are my [hips/shoulders/arms/abs/etc] so sore?! Oh right, yoga …”
