I have a picture hanging on my wall, it’s a pencil sketch of an elderly couple walking down a path, holding hands. I think Al’s mom gave it to us and it always reminds me of what our future holds. We move through the honeymoon stage, the raising kids stage, the sending them on their way stage, and we arrive at the calm and comfort and deep abiding love of the still here after all these years stage. Haha. Just kidding. But really. I not only have that picture to show me what the future holds, I have my mom and dad, married for over 50 years, and still in love.
